Tessa Groenewoud is a Dutch artist . A collector of images, she selects those that make her wonder about the world we live in and explores their relationship with language and reality. Recent work consists of analogue photography, often in the form of intimate, small-scale gelatin silver prints or C-prints that are sometimes grouped into series. Diary-like excerpts go hand in hand with an investigation into form and experiment. Chiefly, these are images that are not staged —captured in the immediate intimate environment. They reflect on everyday personal scenes and relationships, as well as on the process of image-making and the medium of photography itself. The shift to expose and seriously elaborate her (previously private) photographic work happened during the course of 2020-2022, when she decided to alter the focus in her artistic work, taking a step back from her conceptual installation-based practice.
