BOTSWANA

This residency offers artists the opportunity to connect with the unique ecosystems and cultural significance of the Okavango Delta and Makgadikgadi Pan area in Botswana. By working in these ecosystems, artists draw inspiration from the diverse flora and fauna, as well as from the local communities and their relationship with the environment.

To ensure the fast-disappearing Maasai oral traditions are protected and archived, Nashulai is developing the Stories Café. Named Netii Apa, meaning Once Long Ago, this will be where the stories of the Maasai ways of life will be shared, and bear witness to a harmonious relationship with the land. Studio Verde has been invited by Nashulai Maasai Conservancy to participate in archiving the community ' s oral tradition and to promote their model of sustainable conservation.

This program in based on an Isalnd in Zambia along the Zambezi river giving artists an opportunity to be immersed in a unique cultural and natural environment, while also contributing to the local community.

The residency focuses on traditional practices and community engagement offering artists a valuable perspective and inspiration for their artistic practice, while also promoting cultural exchange and understanding.
